How David Bergman Went From Newspaper Photographer to Touring with Bon Jovi and Luke Combs
David Bergman is an American commercial and editorial photographer whose three-decade career spans music, sports, portraiture, and live events. Known for technical precision and access-driven storytelling, his work bridges traditional photojournalism and modern commercial photography.
He began as a staff photographer at The Miami Herald, covering news and sports before moving to New York City in 2001 to pursue freelance and commercial work. Bergman has photographed major events including the Olympic Games and the Super Bowl, with more than a dozen covers for Sports Illustrated.
In music, he is known for touring with artists such as Bon Jovi and Luke Combs. He also gained international attention for his 1.4-gigapixel panoramic image of President Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
A member of the Canon Explorer of Light program, Bergman is an active educator who lectures widely and mentors photographers through workshops and media platforms.
