Yousuf Sarfaraz
Yousuf Sarfaraz (b. 1999, Gizan) is an independent photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Jamshedpur, India. His practice is rooted in rigorous journalistic integrity and nuanced visual storytelling, covering news, industry, energy, and politics.
He holds a Master of Arts in Photojournalism from the University of Westminster, London.
Working seamlessly across digital and analogue mediums, Yousuf operates extensively within the international wire network as a regular contributor to Anadolu Images, SOPA Images, and NurPhoto. His work is regularly syndicated globally through AFP, Getty Images, and Reuters Connect. His documentation of fast-paced regional developments, breaking news, and resource-rich geography has been featured in The Economist, Le Monde, Bloomberg, Deutsche Welle (DW), BBC News, and DAZED UK, and numerous other international outlets.
Alongside his editorial work, his documentary projects have been featured in international exhibitions and publications. He was included in Kris Graves Projects’ KGP084 – OF COVID: Collective Trauma (2024), published with the Humble Arts Foundation. His series Lines of Resistance (2024–2025) was curated by Alessandra Di Ronza and exhibited at Nolias Gallery, London (2025), and his single frame Palestinian Activist, London was selected for the Chennai Photo Biennale Open Call (2025).
