Eakin Howard
Eakin Howard is a photojournalist based in Northern California, specializing in sports and documentary photography. With a background rooted in visual storytelling, his work focuses on capturing high-impact moments with authenticity, energy, and clarity.
Raised in Asheville, North Carolina, Eakin developed an early passion for photography, influenced by his family’s creative legacy. He earned his degree in Photojournalism from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he gained extensive experience covering collegiate sports and international events, including the European Curling Championships.
Today, Eakin works as a freelance photographer with a strong emphasis on sports, community events, and dynamic storytelling. His photography has been featured by major outlets including the Associated Press and other national publications. In 2024, he was selected as a grantee of the Doug Pensinger Photography Fund, recognizing his commitment to impactful visual journalism.
