Josh Edelson
Josh Edelson is a Bay Area–based photojournalist and has worked as a contributor to the international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) since 2012, where he covers breaking news, climate disasters, politics, and social issues across the United States.
Widely recognized for his frontline coverage of California’s devastating wildfires, Edelson has spent years documenting the human impact of climate change, often working alongside firefighters and communities in active disaster zones. His images balance urgency and empathy, capturing both the scale of environmental crises and the personal stories unfolding within them.
His work has been published globally and honored with numerous awards, including the Varenne Canon Grand Prize for Photojournalism. Through his photography, Edelson continues to chronicle defining moments shaping the American West while contributing to the global visual record of climate change.
